What I learnt In Lesson

In lesson today miss had taught us what makes a good film/opening sequence if we included such filming techniques such as eye-line match, match on action and good continuity. Eye-line match is used for when a character is staring at something and you can see what that person is seeing, for example when someone stares at a television. This is so the audience can know what the character is staring at. I never knew what this was and it was interesting to know that I included this eye-line match in our opening sequence.

Also we got told what a 180 degree rule was and how we are not allowed to cross over the 180 degree rule. This rule is crucial and if we broke the 180 degree rule then it would confuse the audience and ruin the whole film for example when two people are talking character A is on the right and character B is on the left and if you broker the rule and character A was on the left and Character B is on the right then the audience would want to how the characters changed side.

One more thing our teacher taught us was continuity and having continuity throughout your film or opening sequence would create a nice flow for the audience. Continuity is consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. Unfortunetly youtube wouldn't let me embed this clip so instead here is the link to what my teacher has showed me of what a eye-line match, 180 degree rule and continuity is.. .
